ABOUT SEXUAL ADDICTION

MINIMIZE TEMPTATION

Many men are confronted with the irresistible temptation to use pornography while they travel. Be prepared before you take a trip and have a plan for how you'll handle temptation.

Ask hotel personnel to disconnect channels that offer sexually explicit material--before you enter your hotel room.
Instead of channel surfing in your hotel room, know beforehand what each channel offers and punch in the number.
Carry a framed photo of your wife and family with you; place it on top of the television.
If you suspect you may be invited to go to a strip club during a business trip, plan beforehand how you will respond.
Pornography is now quickly and easily accessible on the Internet. While this new technology offers a variety of educational and entertainment advantages, it also offers enormous temptation.
If you have Internet access at home, install filtered Internet software that will help keep pornography not only out of your reach but also out of the reach of your children.
Place the computer in the family room or similar public place.

BE HONEST

Talk to your loved one—secrets have power. The more information you withhold from your partner, the more distance is created between you. Talk openly about the temptations and struggles you face and encourage her or him to help you stay on track.
Confide in a trusted confidant. Accountability is a key to maintaining personal integrity. Identify a trustworthy friend who will speak the truth in love and hold you accountable to the standards you set.
If necessary, seek a good counselor to help you manage temptation.
